Home Improvement!

Andy and I are in the middle of home improvement. We are making a big push while we still have some momentum! It is tough to find time to do this with two busy kids (see posts below).

Cold January Day

The sun was out for about 2 hours this morning which inspired me to make a lot of plans for the day that included time at the park. Of course, by the time we reached the park it was cold and grey. It is supposed to snow tomorrow (again!). Although Julia was only wearing a skirt, she braved the weather the best out of the four of us - I guess being five helps!

Tea Time!

This cute children's tea pot was a gift from Grandma Rosie to the children. For fun, today for snack we had "tea" - really Crystal Light Peach Tea (cold) and some awesome chocolate chip scones! Thanks Rosie!

Belated Post/ Belated Birthday

Both Alex and Alex's grandma, Pat have the same birthday! We went to Wichita to celebrate and ate at Savute's. Savute's is a wonderful old-style restaurant that was started in the late 30's or early 40's. I loved eating here with my grandparents and have wonderful memories of this place!

My drug of choice

I had to devote at least one picture to the most important appliance in our household. For example, Alex work up today at 4:50 a.m. - this means we fired this baby up this morning and tonight! Maybe tomorrow's picture will feature some people...

Lions, tigers and bears! Oh my!

Both kids love this present - simple is almost always best. A toy with no batteries and sounds (except the ones coming from the kids).

Alex is TWO!

Today is Alex's birthday! He is officially two years old. We had a cake with a Big Bird, Cookie Monster, Elmo and a Dora candle. I figure that we had all bases covered. This is the year that he turns into a little boy and leaves babyhood forever.

Celebration!

We attended a celebration in honor of a child who has just completed his leukemia treatments after 3.5 years! Alex is having some fun on a yellow wheelie.

Local, glueten-free, egg free and organic.

These cookies are all of the above - made by a woman in Lawrence, Kansas that uses "ancient grains" (http://www.ancientgrainsbakery.com). These cookies were made with sorgum flour and brown rice flour. Tasted a little different but still pretty good! Also had fair trade cocoa, etc. etc. (Btw, the milk has no hormones added)

Julia promptly stole this snack after 2 minutes. Kid-approved.

I am glad that I have homeowner's insurance
